The WellsLink Program is an academic and leadership excellence first-year experience program for students of color who are not sponsored by any of the university's state or federally-funded programs. The WellsLink Program seeks to engage first year non-sponsored students in a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance students' development in six critical areas: ethnic and peer attachment; social integration; worth and competence; reliable alliances; guidance; and leadership opportunities.
Named for a symbol of dedication to student development and retention and the founder of Syracuse University’s first Office of Minority Affairs in 1976, Senior Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs Barry L. Wells, The WellsLink Program is designed to enhance Syracuse University’s retention efforts beginning with the first-year experience. The WellsLink Program establishes a foundation for the college journey that engages participating students in a motivating process for academic and life successes exponentially.
The WellsLink Program is the premier first year experience.
